Group President Electronics has been a global leader of the Citizens Band (CB) market for many decades. Founded in 1978, the company rapidly established itself as one of the primary manufacturers of CB radios in the world.

Lysiane & Claude Schmitz - Company Founders

In the summer of 1969, as the world held its breath watching Neil Armstrong take his historic steps on the moon, another couple was making their own mark on history in a different corner of the globe. Meet Claude and Lysiane Schmitz, a daring duo with a shared passion for business exploration and a thirst for adventure.

As Armstrong was doing his famous walk that year, Claude Schmitz, fresh out of the army and in his early 20s, discovered the two loves of his life -- his future wife Lysiane, and the world of CB radios.

Armed only with their passion for the CB world and absolute determination in their heart, Claude and Lysiane went on to found several CB radio-related companies in the US and Europe.  Zodiac and Sadelta were their first companies. THEIR FIRST STEPS... into the CB World.

The early years were unsuccessful, despite their best efforts and endless work hours. However, these became hard earned lessons that indirectly shaped their future success.

Young, eager and fearless of the world, their aim was to share the wonders of CB radios with anyone that would listen, and nothing was going to stop them from doing so. And so, whether in the US, Europe or Africa, they went on to face all the obstacles head-on that were thrown in their path to finally achieve their life dream.

In 1978, they created CS Import and started to sell products under the registered brand name President. As the success of the brand grew, they decided to rename the company President Electronics and grew it over time into a global leader in the CB radiocommunication industry.

The CB radio communication system (CBRS) was created in the United States in the mid-1940s, however the 27 Mhz band was not assigned to the CBRS until the late 1950s. The radios at the time were too bulky to be accepted by the general public. The CB and ham radios were mostly used by businesses and early adopters.

It was only in the late 1960s and early 1970s that CB radiocommunication really took off. As such, Mr. and Mrs. Schmitz were among a dedicated group of passionate CB pioneers that helped make CB radios such a success and enjoyed by so many in the 70s and 80s.

Today, the founders continue to be involved on a daily basis with the global operations of Group President Electronics. Their passion for CB and Ham radios never wavered. They hope to continue to transmit this passion to the new generation of CB radio fans for many years to come.

FM Mode (frequency modulation)

President was one of the brands solicited by the FCC for their perspectives on the introduction of FM in the US market. President’s decades of FM experience in worldwide markets was a significant contribution to this discussion. President received the very first FCC assigned product number for FM in November 2021, and introduced its first FCC approved CB radio with FM, the Thomas FCC AM/FM, in the US market in December 2021. Today President has the most comprehensive portfolio of CB radio models with FM.

It was in April 1996 that Albert Bertrana, technical director of the PRESIDENT Group, presented to the specialized press worldwide an automatic adjustment device called "Automatic Squelch Control" (ASC). The ASC "Automatic Squelch Control" is a squelch setting device that constantly monitors the received signal and automatically adjusts it to block the background noise. CB users used to do this manually, which was impractical and even dangerous when done while driving.
Thanks to the President's ASC invention, CB users no longer have to make manual squelch adjustments, or check the noise level. The ASC does this for them. CB radios, which have always been a security element in vehicles, are now safer to use.

The VOX function allows handsfree use of the CB. With VOX enabled, you can transmit by speaking into the original microphone (or in the optional vox microphone) without pressing the PTT switch.

12/24V operation

President offers several models that provide seamless 12 and 24V operation. This unique feature allows the user to use a 24V power source (e.g., in heavy construction equipment) to power the CB without the use of an additional 12/24V converter.

Several President radios provide USB ports allowing users to charge other electronics, like cell phones, via the port.

Scan/Scan Skip

The Scan Skip feature allows you to skip one or multiple CB channel during a SCAN. The user can avoid unwanted channels and focus the scan only on channels of interest.

P Channels are Pre-configured memory Channels set by President. There are 5 such channels labeled P1, P2, P3, P4, P5. They use the FM mode, the frequency of an existing CB channel and a fixed CTCSS/DCS code allowing targeted communications with other users.
